He will also have memorabilia on display that he is donating for Flora’s historical archives at the library. Rich is asking anyone who attended, taught or worked at the old Flora School and any survivors from the Bringhurst School to stop by the Flora-Monroe Public Library the next few Thursdays and sign the two books. Rich, a resident of Burlington, has earmarked two books to preserve – one will go to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in New Castle and the other will remain in Flora with other historical items. The book, printed locally by Q-Graphics in Delphi, is an opportunity, says Rich, to relive memories of the basketball teams from the old Flora School and the Bringhurst School. Historical researcher James Rich spent a year and a half gathering information from yearbooks, newspapers, libraries, visiting Indiana’s Basketball Hall of Fame and conducting interviews to complete his latest book of basketball history, “The History of High School Basketball, Monroe Township, Carroll County, Indiana, 1906-1961.”
